Good graphics, bad bug
I’ve had this for a while and was enjoying it. I like the graphics and the different game options, but I have encountered a bug that is making the game unplayable, so I will delete and look for a different backgammon app. I had a turn where two of my pieces were stuck in the middle bar, and I rolled numbers that I couldn’t use because my opponent’s pieces were blocking the spaces. But instead of passing the turn to the opponent, the game just sat there waiting for me to make my move, which was impossible to make! Eternally stuck pieces! I will go look for a backgammon game which will won’t end up with a stuck game.
Ok for Free
App is ok for free, but has run time error that has never been fixed YET. It likes to randomly start rolling rapidly, taking it's own turn, but not giving you time to take your turn. It can skip all your turns in the blink of an eye.
Can be frustrating!
Overall it's not bad. It does seem to roll the dice more fairly than a lot of backgammon games, but........not always. The opening roll seems to go on until the computer player gets what they want for its opening move. I have played up to 20 games in a day and only got credit for about half. It gets confused sometimes if you remove all of your pieces on a set of doubles, but don't use all of the roll. It locks up now and then if you roll and can only move one piece. It works when it can only move once, but locks up every time it happens to me. After I won a lot of games it also started getting sets of large doubles towards the end to try to catch up. Sometimes it works. It's a good game to start with to get the basics down, but not the highest quality version, but at least it was free!
