Needs Some Work Before Being A Gluten Free Resource

If you’re like me (Celiac disease), you’ve been pelted with Atly ads lately, saying it is THE gluten free restaurant guide app. I’m here to tell you that’s not quite the case yet. I appreciate them reaching out to restaurants for confirmation of safety, but most of the reviews on there currently are just any reviews featuring “gluten free” pulled from Google and don’t provide the kind of first-hand experience that Find Me Gluten Free gives you. I could see this being a great resource one day, but right now if you’re using it for GF recommendations it’s not worth $20 a month

Celiac? Maybe stick to FMGF for now

I got my hopes up after seeing an ad for Atly and it even had me fill out a survey about my GF requirements and how careful I am, so I expected to see those answers reflected in the app, or at least the ability to filter by them. Unfortunately when you get into the app, it’s just another review site with a map and an overwhelming number of filters, nothing guiding you to GF info. I believe there might be more features behind the paywall, but after the loss of trust going from the excitement from the ad to feeling like I pulled up Yelp But New, I haven’t been interested in setting up a trial I’ll need to put extra work in to use to know if I want to keep it or cancel.

I’m not uninstalling the app yet because I do have hope and want to give this app a fair shot at proving themselves to be the app the ad framed them as, and I will update this review if my feelings change. I’m writing this review to put pressure on the execs who decided to put the cart before the horse so much with the ad campaign. Those of us with celiac rely so much on trust and our community, so trust should be a pillar of a product designed for us. Or you should clearly label that you aren’t for us, that’s fine too, just let us know and don’t advertise to us if you aren’t backing it up

Hi awillisson, we really appreciate that you took the time to write out your concerns. We have a map with over 170K restaurants worldwide - perhaps the quiz directed you to the main app homepage? We'd love to help and hear your thoughts too, please email us at info@atly.com

Evil.

This map should NOT be a privilege or a luxury. When I first got this app a couple years ago, it WAS free. The company commenting on all IG criticisms about the price that it is “impossible” to make the app free is honestly so gross it’s laughable. You take a community that is already capitalized on enough in our society and you offer yet another thing that SHOULD BE FREE and accessible to all for a ridiculous MONTHLY price that only a small fraction of people can afford…. HOW IS THAT NOT EVIL?? Doing more research I found out that this company is Israeli, so you’re not just paying 8.99 a month to a corrupt company that doesn’t care about lower income celiacs, you’re now funding Israel some more too. Every time I see a Gf influencer partner with Atly, my heart breaks a little. This is a disservice to majority of Gf humans, the privileged ones clearly are saying “that doesn’t affect me so it’s not my problem, download the app”. Overall I’m pretty livid. It should not be a privilege to be able to SEE where I can eat safely.
