Fun

I really like this app, its fun and lets me discover new artworks. However, I wish that essential updates would only include notifications on when we recieved a new artwork, not updates whenever someone gives me a thumbs up or thumbs down. An option to modify which notifications I recieve would be nice too. I am also wondering if destroyed artwork ever comes back, or if it really is just gone forever? It feels wrong to destroy artwork and say it shouldnt exist, yet we are given incentive to do so.

Developer Response ,

Hi, Karl the developer here.

Thanks for the 5 star review and informative feedback. This is really useful to hear.

I understand the frustration of unwanted notifications, sorry to hear it’s been effecting your experience. Good news! Maybe a bit hidden but we do currently support changing your notification preferences. If you go to Main menu > App Preferences > Notifications, you can change your preference to “Focused Alerts” to ignore reactions or “Quiet Mode” to only get notified when you discover a new artwork. Do get in touch via the feedback form in the main menu if this doesn’t resolve your issue and I can look into it.

On your second point, destroying an artwork does indeed get rid of it forever. A bit controversial, I know! Part of the initial premise of the game was that users would have a say on what art exists. I don’t like it either when someone destroys a good artwork. To balance this, reactions were introduced to create counter incentives. The user that gets the most boos each week looses an artwork at random from their collection. Hopefully this dissuades excessive destruction.

Also app is just getting started and we’re often tweaking details here and there. Maybe this could change it appears consistently unpopular or disruptive.
Thanks again, your insights are very much appreciated. Hope you keep enjoying Art Collector :)
