I’m a veteran light painter—I’ve experimented with everything to DIY tools to some of the most expensive gear out there. In all my years, the BT critter is easily my favorite tool I’ve used thus far. The range of options for colors and modes is amazing, and being able to simplify all of these options from an easy-to-use app makes it all so streamlined and user-friendly. Previously with the original RGB Critter, you had all of the options still available, but unless you used it often, it was easy to forget some of the button sequences and combinations. Using the BT’s, it’s so easy and fast to switch colors and modes mid-exposure for more advanced and detailed light painting photos. I’m not a flow artist, but I know that this powerhouse of a flashlight, combined with the ease of use of the app, along with the many attachments AoM makes, make the BT a dream-tool for flow artists as well. As a professional photographer specializing in light painting, I can confidently say that this flashlight is my favorite tool. With 16 million colors, it’s incredibly bright and vibrant. The build quality is exceptional, and the rubber grip is very comfortable. I use this light for hours at a time, and it performs flawlessly.

The flashlight also has a thread for attachments, which I use all the time. The app is intuitive and easy to use, pairing seamlessly with the flashlight. One of my favorite features is the color sliders, which allow me to replicate any color and save them to a color palette. This single feature is a game changer for me.

After using dozens of different colored flashlights over the past eight years, I can confidently say that this one blows every other flashlight out of the water. The brightness, quality, and versatility make it an indispensable tool for any light painting enthusiast.

With this app compared to its predecessors it’s easily a game changer in light painting. AOAM was already my favorite flashlight and this app gets rid of all the pain points. It’s so easy to not only change colors and set up custom patterns but the ability to switch strobe and brightness intensity quickly is SO NICE. I’m jazzed how much this app is going to make the creative process even easier.
