Description
Self-Direction is a progressive way to allow people who receive government sponsored services, often related to a disability, to decide how those services are used. In a self direction program, one individual who receives fitness services might use them for Yoga and Pilates, whereas another might use them for a gym membership and personal training. The goal is to allow the person to direct their services towards leading their best life and maximizing participation in their community. Another aspect of self-direction is that if the person needs personal care, they may be able to choose the provider of their choice (such as a neighbor or relative in some cases) to provide their services. This app provides the ability for the individual receiving services, or their family, the ability to perform Financial Management Services (FMS for short). The government empowers "fiscal intermediaries" which are companies that oversee the work and make sure that the budgets are being used as intended. The FMS app gives the individual receiving services, and sometimes their family, to submit expenses, and to review the hours logged by service providers. These are the primary functions of the FMS app.Specific features include the following:
Budget visibility for expense budgets
Authorized hours visibility for hourly services
The ability to see how much of the budget has been used and how much remains
The ability to see how many hours of authorized services have been used and how many remain
The ability to compare budget utilization and hours utilization with the "authorization period" so that the participant can tell if they are ahead or behind. This gives them the ability to make adjustments so that they don't run out of services too early, or underuse their services
The ability to submit budget items with receipts so that the fiscal intermediary can pay their bills or so they can be reimbursed for services
The ability to review visit times that service providers worked so that they can verify the hours or submit corrections to the fiscal agent.
Note that some programs ONLY have budgets, some programs ONLY have hourly services (sometimes charged in 15 minute units) and some programs have BOTH. The app is designed for all of these cases.
The app can work standalone for a "fiscal agent /FMS only" company, or for an organization that also delivers Home and Community Based Services like Personal Support in the Home or Day Habilitation.
