Description

AIMS is designed for Veterans and military Service members but can be used by anyone coping with anger problems. The AIMS app is based on the Anger and Irritability Management Skills online self-help course (http://www.veterantraining.va.gov/aims/). The app provides you with education about anger, opportunities for finding support, the ability to create an anger management plan, anger tracking, and tools to help manage angry reactions. You can also create custom tools based on your preferences, and can integrate your own contacts, photos, and music. The AIMS app may be used alone, or in combination with the online course or in-person therapy

AIMS was created by VA’s National Center for PTSD and VA’s Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention.

Amazing Idea But Needs Work

I am in love with the idea that AIMS was built off of, I believe that this app would help anyone who took the patience to use it. With a focus on your mental health, the app provides both tools and resources to help users cope with their anger. This is an app that is primarily for soldiers or veterans but I believe that anyone who suffers from any kind of anger management issues can benefit from using AIMS. This app’s visual appeal definitely leaves room for improvement as the simplistic designs don’t really engage with the audience. Moreover, certain attributes of this app is yet to be fully developed and it has a habit of freezing and glitching when you click on it. I believe that the app would definitely benefit from having a more personalized approach where they understand each user’s specific needs and tailoring the app to those needs.

Flexible helpful tool for anger management in adult autism

I found this app after reading an article in the medical literature about the effectiveness of simple interventions such as an anger thermometer and anger log for people who have Asperger’s (Autism Spectrum Disorder level 1). I have ASD and alexithymia (difficulty recognizing/ distinguishing my emotions) and this app has the precise tools that are likely to be effective based on the research I read. It has already proven, after a short period of use, to be helpful for me in identifying what triggers my anger and what signs indicate growing anger before I have an outburst.

My suggestion for improving it would be, make it possible for users to edit or delete our own additions to the lists of triggers, emotions, sensations, etc. Or, if it already has this capability, make it more evident how to do so. Thanks.

Love but crashes

I love the meditations. These are the best/most effective ones I’ve tried. But it’s also very stressful because they crash literally every time I use them. I don’t think I’ve made it through one meditation without having to restart it at least once. Sometimes 2 or 3 times. Very frustrating.
