Acorns Early (formerly GoHenry) is the smart money app and debit card for your kids that teaches them financial wellness and the value of money. Plenty of Options
This program is well designed with plenty of options to teach your kid about money and how to use/save it. One issue is with the child verification link in the app. The link in the app sends a message to the child’s email, but the link in the email directs you over to the GoHenry app (which is the old program, though designed exactly like Acorns Early to help with the transition to the new program) but it doesn’t update the account in Acorns Early. Fixing that programming glitch would make setup much smoother. Can’t wait to have my kid get started with the new card and earning potential.

A Fantastic Tool for Teaching Kids Financial Responsibility
I am thoroughly impressed with Acorns Early, giving it a solid 5-star rating. This app has been instrumental in teaching my children the value of money and the importance of saving. By linking chores to earning, Acorns Early brilliantly gamifies the process of financial education, making it engaging and fun for kids.
The interface is incredibly user-friendly, which is crucial when dealing with young users. My kids have enjoyed watching their savings account grow visually through the app, which not only motivates them to continue their chores but also teaches them about the benefits of saving.

Better apps out there!
The idea is there but the execution is not! The app is not easy to use, and is lacking a lot of flexibility. If you only have one kid this may be easier but I have 4 and it makes it difficult. Other chore apps have much more flexibility when it comes to frequency of tasks, allowing every other day options, etc.
The education piece is lovely and a great addition to this type of setup but again executed poorly. The kids don’t care that it’s there, even though they get paid for completing the units. There is just nothing that draws a child in. Even if they were rewarded with something silly like a background or sticker for the app or something.
Finally I hate that it doesn’t directly fund to the kids card. That we have to fund the parent account and then payout to the kids cards. That piece should be done in the background.

Regarding the parent wallet, it serves as a holding pot for the funds. If you are on the everyday membership fee plan, you can load the account once a month free of charge, and additional loads have a £0.50 service charge. By loading the funds needed for the month within the parent balance, not only does this mean you will receive no additional charges, but if you have tasks and allowances set up, we will automatically pay these from the parent wallet for you! - Abbie
