Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), also known as acid reflux, or chronic heartburn, is a long term condition where stomach contents come back up into the esophagus resulting in either symptoms or complications.
Come common symptoms include the taste of acid in the back of the mouth, heartburn, bad breath, chest pain, vomiting, breathing problems, dysphagia, gas, and wearing away of the teeth. Complications include esophagitis, esophageal strictures, and Barrett's esophagus.
Risk factors include obesity, pregnancy, smoking, hiatus hernia, and taking certain medicines. Medications involved include antihistamines, calcium channel blockers, antidepressants, and sleeping medication. It is due to poor closure of the lower esophageal sphincter (the junction between the stomach and the esophagus). Diagnosis among those who do not improve with simpler measures may involve gastroscopy, upper GI series, esophageal pH monitoring, or esophageal manometry.
Treatment is typically via lifestyle changes, medications, and sometimes surgery. Lifestyle changes include not lying down for three hours after eating, losing weight, avoiding certain foods, and stopping smoking. Medications include antacid, H2 receptor blockers, proton pump inhibitors, and prokinetics.
remedies: chewing gum, licorice, aloe, slippery elm, apple cider vinegar

Ratings and Reviews
A decent double check
Use this app for checking on acidity of various foods. The limited database will continue to grow as app gets more users and each item within data base has community votes directing whether or not said food product may contribute to GERD/reflux.
This app does not tell you about portion control or meal planning as that is not its intent. It's a free app that helps you check to see if your food choice may contribute to GERD/reflux. It will not take place of a dietician or self control.
Great easy to use app
It’s so easy. You just search for the food name or look it up by category.
Pretty dang good but room for improvement
Helps a lot since I was literally diagnosed yesterday and this helps me pick out my items I buy from the store, a thing that could make it better is if you add comments to the food. So that someone who rated it bad can tell the reason behind that.
