With an unwavering commitment to the art of exceptional cuisine, we have traveled the globe to refine our knowledge and enhance our skills, all to share our passion with you through our delightful bao. Our journey began in the cozy confines of a renovated 1976 racing green HY van, where we started serving bao at the onset of the lockdowns. Despite the challenges, we have persevered, allowing our company to thrive and grow.

Daniel Woodhead, our managing director and owner, brings nearly a decade of experience from esteemed restaurants in Australia. One day, while immersed in a bustling kitchen, he was captivated by the bao—a creation that demands meticulous care and attention. He recognized it as the perfect vessel for delivering a rich tapestry of flavors to the world. Determined to fill the void he saw, he set out to bring bao to the people.

Drawing from his extensive background in high-end fine dining and a wealth of inspiration from Asian culinary traditions, Daniel aims to create dishes that evoke a sense of familiarity while embarking on a journey of discovery and delight. Our menu, carefully crafted around the principles of wholesome comfort and exciting novelty, is a reflection of our ongoing mission.

This passion infuses our company, stemming from our love for hospitality and the joy we experience when serving those we cherish. For us, bao—pronounced "ba-ow"—is more than just a soft, steamed Asian bun. It translates to "bun" in Chinese and is often affectionately used to mean "little treasure." With a hint of sweetness and an exquisitely tender texture, each bao is a delightful morsel to savor, often filled with a tantalizing blend of textures and balanced flavors, such as Crispy Sriracha Chicken and Crackling Slow Cooked Belly.

Beyond bao, our menu features an array of delectable offerings including loaded fries, juicy pork ribs, crispy chicken wings, and our signature Baodog—a bao-style take on the classic hotdog. Designed with family sharing in mind, we encourage our guests to explore a bit of everything for a full dining experience.

Our journey has been rewarding. In 2021, we proudly won the People's Choice Award at the British Street Food Awards. Shortly after, we partnered with Ossett Brewery, securing a six-month contract at The Riverhead Brewery tap in Marsden, where we have flourished for over three years. Our growth continues, with two additional kitchens opened in collaboration with Ossett Brewery—one at Bingley Arms in Horbury and another at Archies Bar in Leeds. Our ambitions don’t stop there; we have plans for further expansion.

Our latest venture is a significant milestone, as we proudly established our takeaway spot in Kirkburton, offering you the same beloved menu to enjoy at home.

Fueled by a passion for exquisite food and a dedication to hospitality, we are committed to creating memorable experiences and proudly wear our green with pride.
