Subscriptions will be charged to your credit card using your iTunes account. Your subscription will automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase. No cancellation of the current subscription is allowed during active subscription period. Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription. • BARREL ROTATION (APPLE PENCIL PRO): Apple Pencil Pro now has a gyroscope which allows you to rotate the Pencil for precise control of pen and brush tools. As you turn and twirl your Apple Pencil Pro while drawing in Astropad Studio, the brush you’re using also turns. Note that barrel rotation needs to be activated for most brush sets.

• SQUEEZE GESTURE (APPLE PENCIL PRO): With the new Apple Pencil Pro, you can squeeze the sides of the Pencil together to activate shortcuts. This gesture can be customized in Studio’s Shortcuts panel to quickly switch between your most-used tools while drawing in desktop creative programs.

• ADAPTIVE IMAGE RENDERING: LIQUID is our proprietary video compression engine that powers Astropad Studio. With this update, LIQUID now renders images using Adaptive Image Rendering — an advanced algorithm that balances fast and high-quality video compression. You’ll notice 53% clearer image quality during high-motion content.

• CURATED SHORTCUT PRESETS: The Studio sidebar now has shortcut presets that are curated for an expanded list of apps. When you launch these apps with Astropad Studio, the sidebar will display shortcuts that are specific to the functions of each these apps: Krita, Inkscape, Medibang Paint, TV Paint, Plasticity 3D, ArtRage, Aseprite, Leonardo, Photoshop (updated for 2024)

HOW TO UPDATE YOUR APP:

1. Update your Studio desktop app: Open the Astropad Studio desktop app (on your Mac or PC). You will automatically be prompted to update to the latest version. If the desktop app doesn’t automatically update, you can download the latest version at https://astropad.com/app-downloads/studio-download/.
2. Update your Studio iPad app: Visit the iOS App Store to update your iPad app.

Essential app

I am a professional illustrator, and for specific work I prefer working on the iPad pro in combination with a MacBook Pro. I recently tried SideCar on my brand new MacBook. It has some really good features, but the brush strokes are not good enough. So Astropad (with Luna Display-of course) remains the essential app for me in this particular set up.

Make a Wacom Cintiq out of your iPad

If you like drawing or painting on your Mac or do a lot if photo editing and have always used a Wacom Intuos Pro or Wacom Cintiq. Then look no further.

This is the accompanying app to turn your iPad into a full working professional drawing tablet, just like a Cintiq.

It offers all the features you want, including pressure sensitivity that you can set to your own liking. And in conjunction with a Apple Pencil pro you can even set the tap and pinch to whatever setting you like. Next to that it also offers barrel roll support to allow for even more creative drawing.

This is so much better than using sidecar. If you are a professional working in the creative field then this app is one you can’t do without.

Ps. Besides being available as a subscription based model, the app is now finally also available as a one time life long purchase. Which i would highly recommend to opt for.

Just do it if you want to make a Wacom Cintiq out of your iPad.

ASTROPAD STUDIO

Working with both a MacBook Pro M1 and iPad M1 11” is shear joy! Along with a USB connection it’s fast enough to replace my Wacom Intuos Pro at this point. (I use it in conjunction with an  Pencil 2 magnetic). Used it for just one day now and can recommend it fully!
Even the magic gestures work great :) Happy customer (and I bought the lifetime version; hate the subscription model tbh)
