Description
AudioTheory Guitars is the ultimate reference tool for guitar notes and chords. Featuring an interactive keyboard, fretboard and chords, each note reacts across the set of customisable diagrams. For anyone who's ever wished music theory was that little bit more straightforward – this is the software for you.
The full set of features:
Seamlessly transcribe between piano and guitar using a straight-forward colour coding system and notation highlighting. Play a note on the keyboard to instantly see where it is in your chords and on your fretboard. Play the same note on your fretboard to see the reverse.
Set your tuning and capo. Everything else adjusts accordingly – no need for a chord transposition chart.
Choose your chords with open, power, barre, sus2 and dim7 chord sheets with fullscreen diagrams and playback options.
Exclude notes and never play out of key again. Your fretboard diagram now only shows the notes you need and your keyboard doesn't play the ones you don't.
Scale presets you can quickly apply to the application. Save and load functions to easily swap between customised views.
Midi support. Connect an external Midi input device to control the on-screen keyboard.
Full customisation. Select the chords you want. Left-handed mode for left-handed players. Set your fretboard size, number of strings, start fret and per-string tuning.ull customisation. Select the chords you want. Left-handed mode for left-handed players. Shifted tunings with an option to drop the 6th string, plus fullscreen fretboard mode with full string-level tuning. Choose between guitar and bass fretboard diagrams.
What’s New
Version 3.3.0
Revised keyboard design – the on-screen piano has been adjusted to match a real piano with greater accuracy.
New depth effect – black keys now look like they sit above the white keys (also to help match the look of a real piano). This can be turned off in the settings if you prefer a flat, more abstract look.
Custom colours for the black keys – It's now possible to set unique custom colours for the black keys. The default option is still for the black keys to automatically match the natural note colours, however this can be changed using a new dropdown in the settings. If the black keys display mode is changed over to use custom colours then you'll see an additional set of black key notes for which individual colours can be set.
Export Chord progressions as MIDI and import them as 'Chord packs' into your DAW. Select the new MIDI toolbar option, 'Export Chords to MIDI' and specify a location for the file to be saved. This will export all visible chords in the main application view, one bar for each, in sequence, ready for use in other applications.
