Ratings and Reviews
Just gets worse
When I first got this device it worked pretty good but the more and more and more they release firmware updates are worse and worse and worse it gets the first thing I noticed was a deterioration in the audio quality when using line output it was subtle but my system is good enough that I was able to detect it, also Bluetooth no longer pairs with my computer it used to but now it doesn't pair also the layout of the app and the Bluetooth settings for pairing and un pairing is extremely disingenuous and mostly confusing, for instance in the Bluetooth settings it says audio output Bluetooth but actually it's audio input isn't it because you're inputting from the computer into the device so how is that the output? All in all I'm gonna start looking for another device I just not happy with the way this company's gone I don't think the software is very good it's okay but it's not great it's rushed out it, if the company is not careful I can see it ending up like Apple lots of half baked features that don't work properly
Excellent alternative to SONOS
I started looking for an alternative to Sonos after recent changes to the Sonos app reduced functionality and made it difficult to navigate.
I got a little WiiM mini and I’m just amazed at how slick and easy it is to set up with the app and how easy it is to navigate music, save presets, set alarm and sleep timers and generally do the stuff you want to do. VTuner is a huge plus as it means I can access stations no longer available on Sonos. Great stuff.
WiiM Home app Issues when using NAS
1. Random playback - The playback queue can only hold 1000 tracks. This means that significant chunks of large playlists are ignored by the app. It will thus only randomly play from the 1000 it first selected. 2. Although the app now displays high quality images from song meta-data it only renders images from the album folder, in low quality fuzz, those provided by the server where meta images do not exist in the song files. 3. There is a problem with the Sort selection. In a playlist, selecting a sort option is a good feature but the sort parameters stick! that is everything you list in the app hence forth is sorted even though there is no sort button to be found to undo the prior sort setting!! You have to go into a playlist to find a sort button to default the sort. Apart from the above it’s a very good app and works well with Qobuz. 4. WiiM Ultra - when using fixed output for playback through digital or analog outputs to my hifi system if I then switch to headphones you get 100% volume!! and the Volume control does nothing!
