WestJet 4+

I selected flights for my wife and I to go from Dublin to Edmonton next September. At first all seemed well, but application broke down at the payment stage. There was a message to wait for a confirmation email, but if it didn’t come to make contact in 3 hours time. It didn’t come. So 3 hours later I rang the number I had been given. The number did not work. So I tried a webchat. After much communication I was sent a payment link. This only resulted in an error message. Two more payment links were sent with the same result. I was then told to phone a new number to get the payment done by giving card details over the phone. I phoned the number, but had to wait 45 minutes for it to be answered. I had to listen to unending messages about how WestJet could make my life better. Ironically suicide was becoming a viable option. The agent was able to process my payment, but instead of the original price, I was quoted a higher price and I had to make separate payments for the flights and the seats. To be fair the agent was polite and I did get our flights booked. However it was all quite a stressful experience.

Absolutely shocking service and a shocking shocking airline. Tried to buy seats only for payments to repeatedly decline - seats to appear on the tickets for 24h then disappear. Unable to get through to anyone on the phone so used the live chat - only for them to fail again. Finally got through to someone after 1.5h on the phone - told we would be given extra legroom seats free of charge - only for one of these (of our pair) to disappear during check in. Then had to pay for the extra legroom seat to get next to each other…and found out we had also been charged for the other one. Essentially lied to and made to choose and pay for more expensive seats. The flight itself then left 70 minutes late and made us miss our connection - given an alternative flight 9 hours later and rudely told it was our fault by guest assistance who were clearly fed up of everyone complaining. Absolutely avoid this airline - they are scammers and incompetent from start to finish.

Despite my accurate passport being on the app, I made 1 mistake entering my passport, but I can’t edit it.
I’ve been on hold for nearly an hour and a half, tried deleting app multiple times, absolutely nothing I can do to check in.
Ridiculous that passport details doesn’t have a double check before being locked out if it. Now I know why this airline went bust a few years ago.
