A good game spoiled by one feature

I really enjoyed playing the single player mode whilst learning the controls, the switched to multiplayer. The game would be really the secret strategy ruins it. It means that out of the blue, a message can appear telling you you have lost because someone with a different end goal has won, despite you being well ahead. This is particularly annoying when it happens after only two turns. It means that you can win just by being lucky about the randomised starting locations at the beginning of a game.
