Truly Awful

Oh my, Vox is dire.

Someone is going to have to explain to me why they think having a player that is only as wide as an iPhone screen on a 27" Mac display is a good idea.

Seriously, this must be some kind of joke, and it is pretty clear that the Vox developers aren't very aware of User Interface and User Experience design.

Then there is is the woeful import from the iTunes library. Catalina has been out for some time now, and so I would have thought that Vox would be Music - not iTunes - aware. As a result, importing items from an iTunes (cough, Music) library just doesn't work, and the helpful prompt about sharing XML from iTunes is just incorrect. The option that they mention isn't present.

Then there is the kicker... Vox doesn't appear to understand that, with Airplay 2, iTunes (cough, Music) can play to multiple Airplay devices... and it would appear that Vox cannot manage that.

All in all, Vox looks like a crippled player, for which I can have the privilege of paying £45 per year. I don't think so.

Probably an app worth avoiding until they fix the bugs with importing from an existing iTunes (cough, Music) library, understand the UI paradigm of a desktop computer, and rethink a subscription model for users who are not interested in using SoundCloud.

Thanks for your review!

We've decided to keep iTunes name instead of new one for sometime. We believe it should not bring much confusion, we all know what iTunes (Music.app) is!

All in all, we are going to fix a iTunes sync issues in the upcoming version that is going to be released in a few weeks.

We really appreciate your feedback. Please don`t hesitate to reach our tech. support desk https://vox.rocks/support and share your ideas on our service. Our tech.support will troubleshoot the AirPlay issue!

Cancelled my premium account after 20 minutes.

Utter garbage. All the same problems as every other media player, plus several new ones, for £5 a month. Also, once these people have your e-mail address they absolutely will not leave you alone. Plus, either half the things that they claim they can do are lies, or at very least their minimal web design makes things very, very unclear. I’m all for lack of fussy design, but not at the cost of much needed information or actual functions.

It is a pity for us to hear that! We would like to know some additional details to improve the service. Please reach our tech. support desk https://vox.rocks/support if you would like to help us with that.

Sounds good but...

Not having used Vox before it’s latest incarnation, I’m not in a position to make comparisons with older versions but I find Vox works well, has adequate features and sounds good. The problem for me comes with the cost of the Premium subscription. Even at £4.49 per month this is expensive for the added features one gains. Might I suggest to the developers that they just make a reasonable up-front charge for the player itself, including the extra sound adjustment features, then have in app purchases for the other stuff. I think that most people looking for an iTunes alternative are mostly interested in good sound quality and a simple interface ad not so much in cloud services and Loop.
