Vellum Wallpapers 4+

Do you have *any* idea how long it’s taken me to find a mobile wallpaper app this good?? Vellum is epic. Seriously.

You know that thing wallpaper apps do where there’s an obtrusive ad that appears every 3 wallpapers you open, then beg you to subscribe to their weekly premium subscription to make it stop? And how the walls you do get are either not sized correctly to the phone, or only 100kb with the “””4K””” being SO pixelated it looks like an upscaled 240p image?

Well Vellum’s images fit my iPhone Pro Max Super Plus-Utra Supreme edition or whatever it is, MOST (not all, but the majority) of the images are crisp and clean and they’re ALL amazing looking. Gone are the days of 90% of images being boring and skippable. This app ONLY has excellent pics. I would use 99% of them daily if I could. Sadly I don’t have 1000 phones all needing wallpapers.

EVEN THE ADS aren’t intrusive and I DESPISE ads!!! Apart from the occasional full screen google ad and a bottom banner, the app does bug you to pay its £1.59 premium fee a lot (maybe every 5+ wallpapers you look at has this pop up) and while mildly annoying, it’s easy to close. I mean, though, for the quality of what’s here I encourage you to support these guys, they really have done something amazing here. For how intentional they’ve been to NOT annoy their audience? We should be throwing money at them.

Devs: you’ve done something amazing here, you should be SO proud.

I really like this app. I’ve used loads of (free) wallpaper apps in the past but have found them to be over-saturated with choice (to the extent that you’re wondering why the hell people would pick some of the selections as wallpaper), or filled with bugs. This is the best wallpaper app I’ve used.

I went for the paid version and it’s worth the money - I found the ads annoying and the app itself was a bit jittery on the free version. The pictures are tasteful, high quality, varied, and load super fast. Pretty much all of the images could have been used by Apple as part of their default wallpapers. I particularly like the sections dedicated to different artists, and the ‘Daily Wallpaper’ feature. Even the app itself looks slick and very professional. Brilliant.

Quite easily the best wallpaper app I’ve ever used, so much so that I was happy to pay the very reasonable fee for the no-ad version and get complete access.

I’m really impressed by the quality of the wallpapers, they look stunning on an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Unlike other collections, you can tell they’ve been thoughtfully curated and they work well in mobile format. There’s a huge variety to choose from, enough to keep me entertained with customisation options for a long time to come.
