Ratings and Reviews
Buggy mess - UPDATE
For the price, you would really expect a robust piece of software. 1. A show just randomly disappeared from the Progress section after changing the sort order, even though if you manually search for it you can see it’s still marked as “Added” with few episodes ticked. 2. Selecting episode 111 (for instance) from Hunter x Hunter by long pressing (to set “watched till here”) will crash the app entirely. I ended up marking season 1 as watched, then marking each episode from season 2 up to 111 as watched manually. 3. When the app starts (after a crash) it would just display a network error down below.
UPDATE: the problems mentioned above (app crash following a long press action) seems to have been fixed now. I suspect the first issue was somehow related to it as well (seems ok now, for that particular show). Problem #3 always happens after problem 2 (following an app crash) so it also seems fixed now. Thanks to the developer, and thanks for working on the app to fix the issue.
Developer Response ,
Oof, sorry about that! I jumped right onto the Hunter x Hunter bug and fixed it. There are a small number of shows that have *unusual* episode numbering, e.g. One Piece, and, turns out, Hunter x Hunter. I'll submit a patch for the fix very soon. With regard to the disappearing show, could you please contact me at matt@tvforecastapp.com with more info? My hunch is it was related to bad network connectivity but I'd really like to track it down. Thanks so much.
Excellent Tracking App
I’ve been using one particular tv show tracking app forever and recently it’s been starting to do weird things like randomly bringing back old shows I’ve watched and cutting short others where I still had episodes to watch so I set about trying to find an alternative.
I tried a few before i discovered TV Forecast and immediately knew it was the one for me. A very nice, simplified layout that makes it super easy to add your shows and monitor what you have to watch, what’s due up and shows they aren’t yet announced.
The only minor niggle I have is adding a show like South Park which has 20+ seasons. You have to manually mark each season as watched when it would be nice to be able to tap and hold the most recent season and have the option to mark everything watched to that point.
A minor niggle though for an excellent app that I was only too happy to support with a lifetime payment.
Seems unloved/abandoned
The app feels unloved by the developer. It’s missing lots of little details that should make it better. For example, in IMDb if you hit the search icon on the tool bar and then hit it again I will give you focus on search field and this app doesn’t do that. The new iOS 18 dark icons, this app doesn’t support them. It just feels like the developers made it and then stopped working on it, which is really sad because it is a good looking app.
I also don’t understand why in the “Out now” section on segmented toolbar at the top it has the movies you’ve watched movies underneath. Why can’t they be in a separate section? It just makes that list feel cluttered and it’s hard to detect what you’re waiting for to come out when it also contains all the stuff you’ve previously seen. Not only that but the way that watched things show between movies and between TV shows is inconsistent and it just gives the app a kind of messy feel. Just kind of feel sad for it now.
