Tractive GPS for Dogs and Cats 4+

I purchased 2 Tractive cat trackers several months ago and after using other gps devices I have to say that on the whole I’m very happy with their perform. There are however a couple of things I’m not 100% happy with. The first being how easily the rubber collar attachments tear. The first one was unusable after just a few days and the second one not long afterwards. Maybe there was a slight fault upon purchase I don’t know but I’m down to just two now so I expect I’ll be ordering more on a regular basis. The other and for me the most important thing is just how quiet compared to previous gps trackers the chime noise is. This feature is vital if or rather when our cats lose their collars. So far we’ve been lucky in that only one of our cats has managed to dislodge the collar and luckily a cat owner around the corner saw his and my cat having a disagreement so he could pinpoint exactly where to find the device.
I’m sure if I had to pinpoint it on the sound alone it would be very difficult. I would love to know if the sound level can be remotely increased which in my opinion would then make the device absolutely 100% perfect as it’s location performance is excellent. All in all a 9 / 10 .

Don’t think about buying it- buy it!
I have a 13 and a half year old male cat who has been going out on his adventures his whole life. I’ve recently moved home however and where I live now is next to a busy road and a very very large public park. I was nervous about letting my cat out but after a week he was clawing at the door to be out. I’ve used Tractive every time he has gone out and it offers so much piece of mind! I can see he has explored over 7 miles of his new local neighbourhood and it helps calm my anxiety knowing I can check on him when he is late coming home! The tracker itself is very small and does not cause my cat any problems at all. The collar which comes with the tracker can also be adjusted so it’s hard for the cat to accidentally pull off (however will snap off if it was to get caught anywhere)
When setting up the device, use the setting which takes you through full set up as this gives more tips and information rather than the quick set up option. I’d also recommend you use PayPal when purchasing the monthly subscription as you get one month free

NASA could do a better tracker but without a satellite link this is the best you can buy by far. I have not had the worries that others have reported. Like google maps and sat nags it shows pup’s location better when she is moving. I love that I get an alert when she goes inside the “home fence” as the daycare drop her back. I can see how much exercise she has had and where. The heat map tells me if she has stood sniffing for an age or has spent my hard earned cash playing chase in the woods. If it’s been a short walk I know to get off work to take her around the block. I’m not bothered about league tables, but like a Fitbit, I have been prompted to go the extra walk to get her 5-a-day in. When she did “go it alone” she was easy to locate. Also good in the dark if I can’t see her chasing about - my phone can point to her and I don’t have to endlessly recall her because I didn’t eat my carrots. I doubt it will help with theft passed the first few minutes. The range is great but it can be taken off easily. I really like it for Car journeys- yep! I always think that if she ran off at a motorway services the noise of all the trucks etc would be very disorienting. There are many rabbits to chase too. It’s part of our routine now and it’s a comfort, a tool, and a prompt to get out more.
