Ratings and Reviews
Cracking app for splitting cost of shared drinks, meals, holidays, fuel expenses, anything really!
I’ve gone on holiday with 2 other couples and splitting every round of drinks or restaurant bill 3 ways was a pain, as people often struggle to produce the right money (like if the bill is £27 and everyone only has a £20 note), and it just made paying each bill longer. With Splid we just take turns to pay the full amount, log it in the app and Splid works out who owes who what. If one person pays a large bill like car hire they might get let off the next couple of rounds of drinks.
It’s worked really well for us and the only thing to remember is that transactions are shown in the order they’re logged. You can edit the date but not the time so if you forget to add a transaction until after the next one has been added they won’t be in the correct order on the screen. (Being able to edit the time would be a nice app enhancement for us forgetful types).
Great and simplistic app
I transition to this app from SplitWise following the recent update that ruined that app for me. Splid is incredibly straightforward and simple to use, and I instantly paid for the app to support the developer as a result. As others have reviewed, I think there are few things that could be implemented to make this great app even better: 1. Get notifications, and show in the feed, when a transaction has been deleted. 2. The ability to identify as one of the people on the group/ to set my identity in the summary tab. This would get rid off the need to see what other people owe, and just show the bills that affect me. 3. A follow on from the previous point, but to automatically default to the person I have identified as when adding a bill. 4. Allow sorting in the “expense” tab by inputted date and created date, as well as reversing this. Thanks again for the app! 5. An option for recurring expenses.
As simple and straightforward as it gets
I’ve used Splid now for over a year on different trips away. Some abroad, some at home and a mixture of just two people or up to five.
It’s been a lifesaver; no more faffing around trying to figure out who owes what, who’s down after getting a meal or paying for that boat trip.
What it does it does very well and I’d recommend anyone needing to keep a tally on expenses to give it a try.
Simple interface, you can add a nice trip picture for the event or holiday and as long as someone remembers to add an expense, it gets added into the mix of outgoings.
What becomes obvious is that when you’re all using Splid to keep track of your holiday expenses, it really doesn’t matter who gets the next round drinks, or the meal or the excursion, as it all gets worked out in the end.
I love it, and will continue to use this for the long term. Kudos to the creator Nico.
Thank you!
