Love this watch
Amazing!!! Does everything we need and more
Makes me feel reassured when my son is out that he can contact me easily and I can also see where he is if need be
App is fantastic allowing me to control so many aspects of the watch
Son really likes the step counter and checks it each day
He is now back at school and we have set the school times so he still has his watch but no interruptions from calls etc during class time .... excellent feature
Early Days, some things missing.
I will update my review if things change as we have only had the SpaceTalk Watch a short while and it seems great so far.
However a few things seem to be lacking which I thought would have been in there, especially for the price! This is the reason for a star deduction on each thing.
In the AllMyTribe app I should be able to see what calls and messages have been made and sent. Or at least just who they went to and from and the timestamp. I get there may be some data protection and privacy laws needing covered there, but surely the number and timestamp at a minimum would be okay. It is all fine and well checking on the watch, but that data is easily deleted by the child. It would be good to know if our child is bugging his contacts before we get a message from them to let us know haha.
The location pinging seems to be pretty slow at times, I get that it is using 3G, but I can imagine in a frantic panicky moment, that 30 seconds will feel like a lifetime haha. So finding a way to speed that up way quicker would be better.
No iPad app? It is rather frustrating having to put the iPad into portrait mode and zoom in when viewing it there. Please optimise it for iPad use too.
Terrible
We got this watch for our daughter who is 10, we didn’t feel she was ready for a phone so this looked a good option, as I can add her contacts so I always know she is not getting contacted by strangers.
However, the battery lasts from 8.30am to about 4pm (this is whilst it is on school mode so little function).
The location is not accurate and can put her in another location to the one I know she is if.. for example.. she will appear to be in a house 4 doors away when I know she is at home... this is fine when I know where she is but what if I was trying to find her?
The step function is completely inaccurate (not a major issue but a factor when you take into account the cost of the watch versus a Fitbit)
We usually have to restart the phone when my daughter puts it on as it will tell me on my app she has 6% battery and can’t locate her.. not ideal!
Our main reason for getting this watch was always a stepping stone to a phone, to have a good gps tracker as we begin to allow our daughter to walk the 250 yards to school, a phone function in which she can call her friends and enable her to have some independence whilst feeling reassured.
I wouldn’t buy this watch again, it’s far too expensive for the lack of function.
