Songwriter - Write lyrics and record melody ideas on the go 4+

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I bought this app as I already had the iPhone version and found it quite useful but I was looking for was a way to exchange projects between Mac and iPhone, working on my songs on either device. This is NOT POSSIBLE. Although both versions back up to DropBox, the iPhone version cannot read the Mac backups and the Mac cannot read the iPhone backups. Absolutely useless! Add to this the fact that “Preferences” in the menu bar are constantly greyed out and unavailable, this is not only a poorly thought-out app but it is also defective. I will be seeking a refund but meanwhile hope this reveiew serves as a warning to others.

This is a nice looking app, which I find very important for the process. Having a nice place to put songs is good. However there isn’t much documentation/features in it for the money you pay for it. The chord entry process is a bit fumbly and the chords aren’t very customisable/readable, eg if I was entering complex chords like EbΔ#11 the app doesn’t recognise the Δ as part of a chord and doesn’t raise the flat to superscript. The app also converts chords to their equivalent sometimes; I can’t enter Db without the app changing it to C#

For simple chord use I see no problem with it, and the rest of the app functions as it should. But would be good to have more functionality and a slightly dipped price tag.

Great App using to write some worship music! Could do with a tutorial though in the help section?
