Ratings and Reviews
See AllShip-handling.
This is a very good attempt at simulating navigation and handling various types of ships.
One point though. As a real life ship -handler, a heavy sea/swell
diminishes considerably as you approach land and shallower water, and entering a channel as opposed to open water usually reduces motion dramatically. Obviously size of vessel will be a factor but most of your models represent fairly large ships.
Having said this, its still an excellent repesentation.
How about carrying out sea transfers - my job involved refuelling warships at sea by rendezvous then passing rigs across to ship whilst steaming at 12kts about 100ft apart! -Good game!
Great shiphandling simulation.
By far the best ship handling / manoeuvring simulator on the appstore. What makes this app so much better than the rest is that Aleksandr has put a lot of work into the physics / dynamics of the ships and this game feels much more real as a result.
Update May 20- Aleksandr has now added a sandbox port editor to create your own levels this is fun, it would be nice to have the ability to place some objects on the piers too such as warehouses , oil tanks and cranes etc and have to be able to place NPC ships which you could collide with to increase the challenge.
Flawed ship models but good overall
Driving a cruise ship at 20 knots, the bow and stern thrusters are effective and can observer come the rudder effect. Doesn’t happen in reality.
Interesting exercises give an appreciation of ship handling, although in real life things are done a lot slower than are possible on this simulator.
