SDR-Control Mobile 4+

I am using this with a cellular modem at the radio end and a little iPhone SE. The “trick” to using an all cellular setup is to run Tailscale, which is a free VPN system. T/S gives you a fixed IP address and can create a subnet with the addition of a humble Raspberry Pi. With the above you enter the IP address shown on your radio regardless of CGNAT, cellular IP address changes, etc. There is a free Tailscale app for the iPhone. The Tailscale web pages cover all the above in great detail.

One tip, use the free “ping” app to make sure you can reach your radio before buying this app.

The app itself is amazing, you even see the memories stored in your radio as markers on the spectrum display on the iPhone.

I have only recently started using the app which I'm doing on both the iPhone and iPad but before this used the app for Flex radios. Very impressive, the ability to control the radio from an iOS device is great but add on CW decoding and sending that works, FT4 & FT8 and you have a very light and portable system. I’m hoping that Marcus will add more modes and features in the future and the app goes from strength to strength. As I write this I'm sitting in the middle of a field in a camper van happily working FT8 on 40M with the IC705 and a mobile whip.

This is one bloomin’ good app. Have used the Mac version for a couple of years now and was overjoyed when Marcus produced versions for IOS. They are rock steady and work seamlessly. Have been sitting in the sun today, 178 miles away from my IC-705, working the world via a 4G connection. Can’t fault the IOS version in any way. Absolutely brilliant and worth the slightly high purchase price. But if that helps further development it’s a worthwhile investment!
