Description

Salesforce Authenticator adds an extra layer of security to your online accounts as a strong, out-of-band authentication provider. The app sends you a push notification, and you tap 'Approve' for logins and critical actions when it's you, or 'Deny' if it's not. For even more convenience, Salesforce Authenticator can use location services to automatically verify from locations you trust, like your office or home. Better yet, Einstein can save trusted requests for you! Then you need only respond to notifications when something out-of-the-ordinary happens.

You can also get a verification code when you need one. The codes also work as a backup authentication method if you're on a plane, or have poor connectivity. This means Salesforce Authenticator also works with third-party services that use OATH TOTP tokens.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Rest assured, we go to great lengths to ensure minimal GPS use so that Salesforce Authenticator does not significantly impact your battery life.

Well thought out app

Nobody wants blockers in the way of logging in to any system but as we all know there has to be a trade off with security. It seems Salesforce have balanced this well, giving auto approval functionality from recognised IPs with push notifications to let you know when this has happened.

All in all a nice easy transition to MFA

Good but not great

This is my preferred way to authenticate logins but I have one persistent issue.
I have an Apple Watch and I get the notifications on it which is great but it refuses to work with my Org. It will work with any other part of Salesforce including Trust but whenever I authenticate a login to my Org on my watch I get a notification saying unable to authenticate from my watch. This is even more frustrating as the message doesn’t really tell me if this is an error or wether it just flat out won’t authenticate an Org login.

Simple piece of security that works

2FA has become almost a minimum requirement for system security now. This makes it really easy to keep your account and data secure but easily access the system.

Quick notification and simple one-button acknowledgment- does the job!
