Description
TouchArcade: 4/5 "...very good roguelike and a fun game"
148Apps: 4/5 "Sarcastically difficult"
Quest of Dungeons is a turn based dungeon crawler game.
An evil Dark Lord has stolen all the light, so your mission is to enter his lair and defeat him.
By playing as either a Warrior, a Wizard, a Assassin or a Shaman you have to traverse dungeons, defeat enemies and loot everything you can in order to survive.
The entire game is procedural so you won't find items/enemies in the same place each time you play.
Features:
-Procedural dungeons
-Procedural weapons
-Boss encounters
-Quests
-4 Difficulty levels
-Permadeath - once you die, game over, you have to restart.
-Shop - buy and sell items/weapons
-Save system - no need to restart each time
-Leaderboards -compare your adventure points with your friends

Ratings and Reviews
Hard, frustrating
This is a great game BUT simply too hard. I'm playing it on easy and still get killed "out of the blue" by a boss encounter or accidental move or some other dumb reason... In the end it serves only to massively frustrate, and badly lets down an otherwise great game.
Here's my latest game: played for half an hour, carefully making progress and having fun. Went down to the next level, landed directly in the boss room, with no stairs back up for whatever reason and was 1-shot killed trying to run away. That's not fun and not fair, so I'm dropping my score to 1 star.
Please fix this and I'll revise my score. Nerf the bosses and / or add a save system which would at least allow me to restart from my save or the current floor. Why wipe the save when the player dies? Combined with the cheap deaths as described above this just serves to make the game frustrating and unfair. And I am playing on "Easy" FFS!
UPDATE: I've now beat the game a couple of times, on easy, playing as the archer. Despite how unfair and at times annoying I find it, I've got to give it 4 stars.
Please rebalance the boss difficulty still though.
Absolute gem but could do with some polish
This is a fantastic little roguelike rpg with a lot of value for the low price and simplistic design. It's let down a bit by the fact it doesn't always save your game which can be very frustrating hence the deducted star.
As another review mentioned, some life steal wouldn't go a miss just to balance out otherwise impossible boss fights.
Would be good if...
Nice underlying game, but could be great with some tweaks.
Most significant is the permadeath thing; I can't see the logic of it, and it's at odds with the game mechanic of building up the character and gathering inventory. It's especially annoying when the death is due to something accidental (like casting a spell on a distant square when you meant in fact to run to it, away from the boss that thereby gets the extra attack in that kills you).
Other than that, it'd be good if the path taken when running to distant squares were a bit smarter (eg, avoiding spikes instead of always going directly over them). Also, the inventory logic could be more consistent; as it is, some items "stack" when multiple versions are held, though others do not, and it's not apparent why.
