Purple Visits 4+

Purple visits is an easy to use service that has been invaluable since coronavirus. Easy to set up and only took around 24hours to get verified; children can be added using just a selfie and basic information being entered. Hadn’t seen my son since March due to restrictions so the only contact I had was through letters and phone calls...to be able to see him on the screen in real time was fabulous! I can only request one purple visit per month but I’m not sure if that’s just his prison rules or nationwide. Sound quality was excellent, very slight delay but unnoticeable after a couple of minutes. Only had one glitch during the call when the system picked up a canvas I have on the wall (pic of grandson) and the video paused for around a minute due to “unverified face detected”.
Difficult to hold your phone still for half an hour so I would suggest a good set up before you begin. It does have an icon to turn the camera (I wanted to show him my new car) but I was nervous the system would lock out again if it caught sight of another picture on the wall (lol!) so didn’t use it. Considering I cannot visit, this is definitely the next best thing!

Even before the lockdown I couldn’t get to visit my husband due to him being 140 miles away from home and because I’m not well I suffer from bad panick attacks which would have been made worse having to go through the rigmarole of prison security today I got to see the love of my life whilst in the comfort of my own home😊😊yes the app needs tweeking a bit for example I sneezed while on the video call which then stopped the call until I went through security again apart from that I’ve nothing to complain about this app has lifted a dark cloud of depression from me seeing my husband face today has made my year never mind day THANK YOU SO MUCH 😊 This app is a godsend I feel so lucky & privileged to be allowed to have these calls thank you purple visits from the bottom of my heart 💖

I’ve used Purple Visits once and so far the app appears to work very well. The layout of the app is straightforward and fairly intuitive.
It’s helpful that you get email reminders to accept any scheduled virtual visits.
The video call quality was good enough.
It was a shame that the video call was only 30 minutes, although I’m not sure how much control Purple Visits have over that, as it may be something which is set by the establishment.
You are given the necessary warnings regarding the calls being recorded and the actions you are prohibited from doing during the call, as well as the consequences for breaching these rules.
I would highly recommend using this app as a means to keep in touch with friends/family members who may be incarcerated.
You are invited to give feedback at the end of your call, with the option of making suggestions on how to improve it.
One improvement I’ve suggested is to provide a countdown timer so that both parties are aware of remaining visit time.
Hopefully Purple Visits will implement helpful suggested.
