They don’t work, it is just another list program shame :-(
Update: Developer response is good, still missing a few features such as shortcuts and list locations aren’t shared, which is a shame. The app still proves useful!

They do work but you need to go shopping with pon first. pon learns your shopping locations and can notify you when you pass by your supermarket. If you want to speed up learning you can also manually add your locations to pon. Go into a shopping list and tap on the list title -> locations -> manage locations. Hold your finger pressed on the map where ever there is a supermarket you recently go to for shopping. Maybe you give pon a chance and use it a couple of days ;-)
