Poly 2 4+

Poly 2 is enormous fun, well thought out, and with a bit of practise incredibly versatile. Use the included samples, import your own sounds, and/or route midi out to control the sounds of many other apps. Poly 2 is relatively easy to use while being capable of much subtlety and variance. Ambient creations, rhythm tracks, even melodies can all be evolved in what sounds like an organic fashion, producing very useable pieces. If you want to dabble in generative music, the freebie download lets you try out many of the functions, and if that lights your candle, the full unlock is well worth buying.

Enjoyed so many hours on this app, brilliant user interface that invites experimentation and exploration. My only gripe would be the sample importing tool could be better, feeling clunky compared to other apps. The ability to preview samples before importing them would help a lot when dealing with large sample packs on iPad. Doesn’t affect anything once you have the right samples loaded so I can only give this 5 stars.

All this time I have been searching, I didn’t realise I should have been going around in circles. It’s a joy to use, a perfect balance of “doing” and “happening”. What started off as a feeling of being lost, has become a definite and very significant method of creation which I have found. Thank you very much indeed.
