WASTE DIY BOOKING
Turned up at my local tip only to be told I can’t leave my rubble because I hadn’t booked it. There is no way in the App to allow this to be booked on top of making the appointment. Sort it out please Hampshire Council/App developer
Developer Response ,
Thank you for making us aware of your experience. We are making some improvements to the app including the capability to book DIY waste when making a booking. We are sorry to hear you were turned away and for any inconvenience caused.
An update required (DIY Waste…)
So let’s set the scene, I’ve booked on the app (the latest 5 month old version) and I have some old broken paving slabs to dispose of. My memory tells me it should be about £6, I can live with that. I arrive at my local Recycling Centre (AKA the dump - I’ve lived here a long time) the team are always polite, friendly and helpful. I said “I’ve got two bags of stone, where do I pay?” “You don’t pay anymore sir, have you booked?” was the reply. I said “of course I use the app now it’s a doddle.” “Ahhh, but have you ‘booked’ the DIY waste?”
I could go on, but you can tell the ending. The long and the short is that the app DOESN’T ALLOW YOU TO BOOK DIY WASTE, I couldn’t find it on the app and pure dogged determination made me look for a way to complete the task. So, I found that there is a drop down menu allowing the specific disposal of DIY Waste as referenced by the operator when you use web pages (Safari or the like) to input your booking. The Recycling Centre team were great and I went back two hours later and correctly disposed of my waste.
So dear council - sort it out promptly please and update the app to reflect the new processes. By allowing residents to dispose of DIY waste at no cost you should go some way to alleviating the ugly fly tipping at the back of Portsdown Hill. Then you can hammer the miscreants with a far larger fine…
My job here is done - thank you.
Developer Response ,
Thank you for making us aware of your experience. We are making some improvements to the app including the capability to book DIY waste when making a booking. In the meantime, please continue to book your slot at your preferred HWRC and on arrival, site staff can amend your booking to DIY waste.
My address does not exist
I wanted to book a tip trip so I put in my postcode for my waste origin address;
my house did not exist on the drop down, to add salt there wasn’t an option to put in my address manually.
So naturally I tried to report this bug but when I clicked on the button it redirected me to an error 404 as apparently form had moved to another page.
Fix/update your buggy app!
