The purpose of OneWaySync is to safely create mirrors of folders in a simple and quick way.
This tool will sync in only one way, this means the source directory will not be changed and only the destination directory will be affected.
By switching off the option "Delete on Destination" you can keep all files backed up even if it no longer exist on the source directory.
You can also choose whether or not to copy the hidden files and directories.

Works well with Dropbox too
I use the app for hourly syncs for folders that need to exist outside of dropbox. This allows safe syncs / mirrors of folders to dropbox where they can also be stored so that you have a backup of these folders. Works well with databases for mamp too as you cannot store databases from mamp outside of the mamp folder which can be resolved with symlinks from the mac terminal but for people that are not comfortable with using the mac terminal this offers a way to store mamp databses with dropbox. It is also very easy to use, nice app.
Does what it says but WARNING
REALLY GOOD FOR: backing up your original master photo/video collection onto a backup disc. That assumes you never want to delete any of your collection. Uncheck ‘delete on destination’ and you know it wont delete a file even if that file gets deleted on your master disc.
NOT SO GOOD FOR: when you move folders and files about in your master collection - as having ‘delete on destination' unchecked means you end up with the old folders and files kept AND the new ones created.
A WARNING: Try not to store anything else on the same backup disc - as if you check ‘delete on destination’ then it will scan and compare and see that other stuff isn’t on the master disc folders that it is copying from, and just delete them from your backup disc! (It would have been preferable for the app to limit its search for things to delete to the specified folders it is copying from and to, and leave alone anything else on the backup disc). I haven’t tried disc partitioning to get over that, but otherwise it looks like you should only do ONE Onewaysync ‘slot’ for a backup disc and have no other use for that backup disc. I dont recall that critical bit of user advice being pointed out.
Nifty little program
I work a lot from my Macpro and then go travelling ( obviously not so much during COVID) but then take my laptop. So this is a super way of keeping my Macbook Pro work folder uptodate and in sync with my main desktop computer at home.
I was trying to find the best way to do it and came a cross this little program and well...PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
And its quick. About 92GB of scanning for files to delete/preplace or update took 12 minutes. I did it the old stupid way which was tocopy the whole foler which took ages. The problem was before that MAC merge didn't always do the best job.
But this seems to work flwlessy!!
