The North Coast 500 is Scotland’s iconic coastal route that covers over 500 miles of the stunning North Highlands. The route begins in Inverness, Capital City of the Highlands, and snakes along the rugged coastal edges of northern Scotland, taking in breath-taking castles, mesmerising mountain tops and glistening beaches.
A travel and cultural guide, the Official NC500 app helps you find the most interesting sights and places as well as the stories, songs and music behind them.

Not your usual travel app!
If you’re going to download a travel/tourism app for an excursion into the Highlands, this is the one to go for. Packed with crucial info about local attractions and services, there are also various themed routes you can follow (for example if you want to see lots of castles!) or you can create your journey around specific sites you’d like to see, which gives you more independence and can cater to your individual needs. The app highlights must-see locations, but also makes it easy to discover hidden gems and build them into your travels.
The thing that really sets it apart for me though is the audio content. The app is filled with local music, as well as folklore and stories which have been passed down through generations of people living and working along the NC500. We were really excited to do this famous route, and the audio channels made a long family car journey with 3 kids and a dog much more bearable! Will be going back next year!
Can’t wait to try the NC500
Been back and forward on this site for months setting out on Friday and this app has helped so much picking out places I found I wanted to visit and other places I had not looked at but now want to visit great app would definitely recommend if you are planning on doing the trip ♥️
Great until it crashed
Wonderful app full of information on where to stay and what to see but it crashed after a couple of weeks. Now when I try to open the app it shuts down immediately. I deleted the app and downloaded it again from App Store hoping that would solve the issue but it happened again.
Hope they sort out this problem soon as it’s one of the best apps out there.

We released a new version (2.6.25) which did fix an issue with the app crashing on start-up for certain users. Are you able to update the app to the latest version and try again?
