Easy to use

Really good app.

I’ve used others, but they’re really basic and buggy.

Then you get Nizo!

I’m no professional videographer, but this app is easy to use and it’s features are really sexy. Looking forward to creating memories through this lens.

Feature request: record audio

I really do love this app and respect the work of the developers. I have a feature request that would make it a 5-star experience for me, and that’s the ability to record audio as a separate file and use that instead of music from my phone. I don’t store a lot of music on my phone so I don’t have many audio options, and although you could use the audio from the video recording, it would be great to be able to record the audio separately within the app and use that for the video footage. Otherwise it really is a great app!

Edit: Thank you for the response. I was think that I’d like to record the audio from the scene that I’m recording as a long backing track, so it relates to scene but isn’t choppy, if you see what I mean. Your solution did work well for me so thank you 👌🏻 also, is it possible to change the video filter once the video has been recorded?

Update: Hi Jason, hope you’re very well. Thank you for clarifying the audio suggestion and keeping me in the loop. At this stage it’s not possible to change the colour grade in post.

Hi Jason! Thanks so much! Thrilled you’re enjoying filmmaking with Nizo. Appreciate your kind words and feature request. To elaborate on your idea, are you thinking of a feature where you can record your voice? To narrate your film?

In the interim you could try recording your voice with Apple Voices or Apple Music Memos. Once recorded simply save to the Nizo folder inside the Files app on your iPhone, or iCloud Drive if you’re creating on a Mac. This will sync the audio file inside Nizo, ready to add to your film.

How to duplicate?

Hey this is a really nice app, but having issues duplicating clips. I tap and hold, then get the swipe to delete, tap again to duplicate messages, but take my finger off to tap again and it goes back to previous mode. Can’t work it out?

UPDATE! Got a really nice email response from Jason@Nizo and they now get 5 stars. Here’s the advice:

To duplicate a clip: 1. Press the clip you would like to duplicate; 2. Keep pressing the clip — then, tap anywhere with a 2nd finger — a copy of the clip will animate on screen. 3. Release “both fingers” — the clip will duplicate into the timeline. You are close, when you press and see the ‘tap again to duplicate’ hint — keep holding the clip down — then, tap with a 2nd finger — release both fingers simultaneously. You’ll find the gesture simple and fast. To cancel duplicating a clip — release your 2nd finger — the duplicate clip will disappear.
