MyAnimeList Official 17+

This is quite literally an anime list app, you search up anime and add them to your list similar to other anime list apps on iOS. By no means is the app bad but it isn’t what I expected, I thought it would be more like Reddit who’s app is a streamlined version of their website. Mal didn’t take the reddit route and instead made a more basic version of the website only allowing you to browse anime and add them to your list, no manga, no forums. Also very annoying that they decided to include notifications and forum titles etc ,even though they aren’t included in the app and instead clicking on a forum just takes you to the website on safari. I would of much preferred they didn’t include all the extra stuff that isn’t actually available to view on the app

It’s great to finally have an official app.
I like the efficiency in the app’s layout as it’s easy to navigate through.

I have some comments that may benefit the final version.
My first concern is that there isn’t a way to access the manga list. That would mean I’d still have to go onto a web browser to access this. Hopefully the this’ll be available in the final version.
Also, when accessing our profile pages, I wish to see more detail on the shows we have watched, dropped, episodes seen, rewatched etc, as is done on the web/mobile site. And seeing our profile comments section.
Accessing the forum through the app would also be appreciated.

(Dark Mode would be awesome as well!)

Otherwise I am liking the layout, though some refinement may be needed. On the seasonal page, there is a tab labelled ‘next’ - maybe it should be renamed as ‘upcoming’ because ‘next’ is quite unclear. Same for ‘last’ - might be more clear if it was labelled ‘previous seasons’. Though I’m not sure if that tab is needed considering there is already an archive page.

Thank you, many people have requested the manga list and dark mode, so we put them on our To-Do list.

The app is brilliant for keeping track of your anime and manga, but one big problem i have is that it repeatedly redirects you to the browser version whenever you would like to do something else

It would be fantastic if you could add the following features within the app version:

-ability to write reviews.

-ability to view friends anime/manga list without it redirecting to the browser version.

-instead of the search button being limited to manga and anime, make it like the desktop version where you can search for characters, users, people etc.

-When looking at seasonal anime. Let us look at any previous season from over the years instead of being limited to “current, previous, and next” seasons.

-Ability to change account settings without being redirected.

Simply put, one of the most important improvements this app can make is to reduce the reliability of the browser version by adding more features to the app
