Ratings and Reviews
Looks pretty but functionality reduced
The old version wasn’t without issues but seemed better regarding current actual location and tracking journeys. This latest version has a more user friendly interface but seems to be lacking some of the original functionality AND more importantly seems to be less reliable in tracking the vehicle location in real time. At the moment I have the Trackstar tracker and an AirTag in the vehicle, the AirTag knows exactly where it is. The tracker and app has lost the plot and lost the car, the location hasn’t been able to update for 3 days.
Disappointed
I have been with this company for nearly 10 years I had one of their trackers on my x5 had no issues for 7 years I brought a new car and got told my old tracker was too old to transfer so went with a new unit at considerable cost and had nothing but hassle tracker would not work in the end I had 2 new units fitted and still played up in the end they upgraded it to there new latest best unit so I was told and yeeeep still had hassle not tracking car anyway sold the car as it was a tie me over till I got my new car and had the tracker swapped over at another ridiculous cost just to swap over and it was a case of just fitting as I removed the old unit myself as I fit trackers as I’m a tech for a main agent but don’t use TRACKSTAR trackers then got told I have invalidated my warranty as I removed it great well done TRACKSTAR 10 year customer great service or what anyway 10 months ago the unit was put in my car and all been good since but guess what here we go again had no journeys showing all week now and have spoken to your customer services and like normal you have to be in the car so they can re send the signal but assure you it can still be tracked even though your getting no journey data and I waited the 24 hours they recommend and guess what yeah still not journey data coming through I think enough is enough time I moved company and BMW recommend your system as well so time to get it right as I really have not had the best experience in the last 2 cars etc etc
So disappointing - it’s of virtually no use at all
After less than a week of exploring this app, I can honestly say it is of no use whatsoever in establishing either the current location (today it took 8 hours to register that my car was parked at home), or the journey record. For example, my journey home today has not been recorded at all! Those journeys that are recorded, can only be reviewed as a stuttering, moving map - no way to stop and focus on any particular part of the journey, and no way of viewing the entire end-to-end route as a single entity. Prospective buyers may like to know that reviewing a 12 mile journey took 3 minutes! Extrapolating from that, a 120 mile journey would take a full 30 minutes - but only if you are lucky enough for the journey to be one of those it has registered! I am currently pursuing the removal of the S7 Trackstar, and a refund of the annual subscription. After 6 years of using the Land Rover InControl system - I find Trackstar to be naive, flakey, and inadequate by comparison.
