Pokémon Go challenger
I’ve loved the monster hunter series for a while now but when I downloaded this game I didn’t expect much from it. However I can say that it blew a lot of my expectations! The game is quite similar to Pokémon Go obviously being made by the same creators but it has its own unique game style where it requires a lot more knowledge to complete the tougher hunts than chucking a ball into a moving circle. It pleases both the fans of monster hunter and casual gamers by having certain goals to reach. For me it was trying to discover the large monsters which there is lots and lots of. The fighting mechanics are simple but still requires a level of concentration and skill to target a monsters weak spots and I’ve found that the different weapons all have there pros and cons. Each one is useful in a way and I don’t think there is any real stand out weapon better than the rest. It’s a step up from the classic Pokémon go if you want a more interactive gaming experience of this type.
An unfun parody of Monster Hunter
If you've come for a Monster Hunter experience, you'll be very disappointed. There are only 6 weapons, and the balancing of them is incredibly weak, made worse by atrocious hitboxes. Every fight is a DPS check, so you're pretty much funnelled into a certain style of play. Oh, and the game is prone to slowdowns, but the clock will still countdown in real seconds, which will drastically hinder your rewards. Oh yeah, the rewards are the worst kind of RNG, you're more likely to get better rewards for A rank hunt times, but not always. A rank a 3 or 4 star hunt? Level 1 crafting materials. You can't craft potions to stay in the game either. That's a store purchase. Not zenny, dollars and cents. And it's not cheap either. Your palico will collect non-landmark resources as you pass, this is good. But it's paintballs (3 per day) are random with no way to narrow down what gets tagged. You wanna fight a 6 or 7 star monster? Nah mate, 1 star Great Jagras, get rekt son. I've tried to like this game, but Niantic have somehow launched a worse product than Pokémon Go was at launch, and this does not have the same player base/server issues Go did. This is a soulless, soulsucking insult to the Monster Hunter name, and is clearly a weak cash grab carting off the success of World, Iceborne, Rise and Subreak. Wouldn't wish this on anyone.
