Doesn’t work for me

I’m a regular gym goer and consider myself reasonably fit. However, when I started using the app, it bizarrely assumed that my fitness age was 12 years older than my chronological age. I have now used the app for twelve days, with an average AQ of about 160. The app reckons the it will take another month or so at this level to reach parity between my fitness and chronological ages. I think this unexplained initial assumption of my fitness age renders it fairly useless for me. I have therefore cancelled my subscription.

Developer Response ,

Hi!

Thank you so much for your feedback. Your VO2max and fitness age estimates are initially based on data from the HUNT study (The Trøndelag Health Study) conducted at NTNU, where your estimated VO2 max and fitness age are derived from what others with the same height, weight, gender, and training habits have actually measured through objective VO2max tests. The answers you provided when creating your user account are compared to the data of participants with similar responses in this study, which then forms the basis for your starting point for these estimates.

After this initial starting point is set, both fitness age and VO2max are continuously adjusted based on your activity level, and they will therefore become more accurate the more data you sync to Mia Health.

If you understated your training volume and intensity when you registered your user account, this could result in slightly lower estimates than you might actually deserve. If you wish, you can contact our support team through the app, and they can adjust these estimates for you.
