MG iSMART Europe 4+

The app always signs you out which is annoying because I don’t think you need to constantly sign in when your phone already has a security feature to prevent unauthorised access.
When you’re in the app, the total mileage available is incorrect but when you refresh the screen it updates to the correct available miles. The battery warming time configuration doesn’t seem to remember the last configured setting. I use my car for work purposes so I would benefit for a scheduled battery warming configuration without having to login the night before to reset the time again and again.
The car computer also seems to never remember the user that’s logged in which means I have to activate it again. I can’t use the weather features as an example because it thinks the car isn’t activated. Some simple fixes here I wish MG would sort this out!

I’ve had my MG4 and the iSMART app just over 1 year now and, although the app has always connected and worked well when connected to my home charger, it has also been very hit and miss at other times when trying to connect to my car for a status check, tyre pressure, battery soc etc. So I was very happy to see that the app has just been updated with a great new look. Unfortunately, when I tried it out, it couldn’t communicate with the car at all. Logging in isn’t a problem but when I tap on ANY of the functions it returns the message “THE REMOTE CONTROL INSTRUCTION FAILED, PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER”. So, the app is looking 100% useless, until the next day when I sit inside the car and try it one more time, and lo and behold, it worked! Tried it again from a distance away and it still worked and it’s still working although a bit slow to get data at times but definitely not as bad as it was. One more thing, why do I have to log in each time I change from my iPad to my iPhone and vice-versa, as it’s the same login details on both devices. Surely if I’m logged in, I’m logged in, right? Apparently not! not with this app.

When it works it’s a decent app, but it is glitchy far too often. With newer versions it defaults to alerting me every time the car turns on, despite me turning this feature off daily. Sometimes this is delayed, so I get alerts whilst I’m half way through my journey or even when I’m parked up, causing a fright. It crashes out a lot and fails to update or refresh, so I can’t check remotely if the car is finished charging, or start / end charging or turn on the AC. It logs me out pretty much daily too, so I have to waste time re-logging in daily. Asks me to bind to the car again regularly. Really frustrating as being able to turn charging on / off remotely is one of the main perks of having this vehicle so it’s very poor this is often an inaccessible feature.
