Kagi for Safari 4+

I understand the difficulties Kagi are facing trying to work within the stupid boundaries apple are forcing upon them but I’m glad this extension at least exists.

It was incredibly frustrating when the new version of the app broke this completely but it’s now seemingly working again, so 👌

Hopefully one day we get a native integration without the need for this workaround

As an Apple user who values their privacy-first approach and Steve Jobs' vision of "computer as bicycle for the mind," I've found myself frustrated with the current search engine situation on iOS. While Google's search dominance was once based on quality, today's results are increasingly influenced by advertising, often in ways that aren't clearly marked.

Apple's limitation of search engine choices and their multi-billion dollar deal with Google seems to contradict their privacy-focused values. This is where the Kagi browser plugin becomes essential - it's a clever workaround that enables users to use Kagi as their preferred search engine, something Apple could technically enable natively but hasn't.

The plugin effectively redirects web searches to Kagi, providing a more privacy-respecting search experience. While it's unfortunate that such a workaround is necessary, the developer has done an excellent job implementing it within iOS's constraints.

Kagi search has completely replaced all other search engines and AI tools for me. I was hesitant at first to pay for my search engine, but Kagi's features including AI summarisation, lenses, and search result personalisation, combined with there being zero ads or commercially promoted results, is easily worth the small cost.

The Kagi team are also incredible: new features and improvements are coming to the service almost every week, and they are super responsive to feedback and suggestions.

This is the way forward for search.
