Ratings and Reviews
great but
This is great but would be better if you could connect via bluetooth so no wifi network was needed.
Was great but now not working
Use this in conjunction with iMotion pro and have been very pleased with it for last couple of years but unfortunately suddenly the remote element has stopped working . It can no longer find my iPhone . Tried everything aaaagh
Hopefully, the start of good things
This app, like all the animation apps available for iOS devices is flawed. Sadly there seems to be no one making apps who actually knows how to produce animation properly. The all too common mistake of shoving the onion skin feature in without knowing how it's actually used in the industry is a staple law which no one yet has addressed. This app is the best of its kind. It's seems to b robust and stable enough for basic use. However two points must be addressed in this app for it to be considered worthy of genuine merit.
Firstly, the onion skin- if used at all- should be visible on the remote screen - not the device used to grab. This is the working screen and must be used for working!
Second. The way professional animators use stop motion software is very rarely with onion skin at all. They use a scrubbing technique where by the previous several frames and the current 'live' frame are played back at the final speed to preview the action so as to make refinements in the movement based on momentum of action. Onion skin tends to only be used in the 2d sector and only then for cleaning up the rough drawings. The actual movement is created by flicking the pages quickly to get the idea of momentum coming from the quick appearance and disappearance of the images.
I look forward to future updates in the hope that this industry standard will be taken up by someone who this time seems to be taking this seriously enough to manage it!
