Geospike 4+

My daughter and three members of the family bought the pro version of this App to follow her travels around South America. None of us could receive her photographs or details of her spikes despite her sending us a screenshot of her phone showing what appears to be successful photos posted on her App. I also uploaded some to my phone to see if they could be seen by her and other friends but apparently not. A real disappointment.

It does exactly what it says on the tin: shares location and photos. Used it to easily share with people during a cycling trip. Shared publicly and also to my Facebook account. Worked fine without Internet access and uploaded the spikes when back online.

My only quibble is that I'm still not sure what the relationship between this and GPS Log is: they both perform very similar functions and seem to have an official link. I tried GPS Log first, so setting myself up on Geospike seemed a bit convoluted as 2 apps were involved. I suspect I went the long way around, so a clearer interface or guidelines on this would be helpful.

I really like the list view of "your spikes", lots of info on one screen.

When starting recording a journey, however, it appears to hang and say "internet connection not available". I'm testing at home on my wifi! Also, most journeys you can assume I won't have Internet, so this won't do for me at all.

I'm concerned by default behaviour of sharing my locations and journeys with the public unless you pay money for the app. Privacy issue for me.

I haven't taken the plunge and purchased full app for £4.49 because of the app's inability to let me do things offline.

As to the other reviewer in October 2015 who talks about the app using current location for previous photos, this is not the case for me. I can successfully add a previous photo from a few days ago and it will pick up its location okay.

Perhaps in testing this user first added a photo from the current location, the tried to add another pic from previous location? The entry seems to only use location from the first photo you add.
