Fleet Battle: Battleships game 4+

I really love this game and it’s by far the best version of Battleship on the App Store. My boyfriend and I downloaded and tested a few different app versions of the game so that we could play something with each other from afar, and Fleet Battle has a far superior online multiplayer mode to the branded version of the game (that I really thought would be better).

There are various game modes and lots of options to customise your ships with different paint jobs to make the visuals a bit more spicy. Very snazzy visuals. Does what it says on the tin and then some. And it’s FREE (we eventually paid to get rid of ads). I highly doubt you’ll have any regrets downloading this, but you may find your time mysteriously disappearing.

LATEST REVIEW: All previous problems have been resolved. It’s still a little wonky in places but nothing game breaking. You still get the odd sore loser calling you a hacker etc but they’re probably kids. It’s a game of luck with a tiny amount of skill (in knowing ship shapes). Great for family games. Download it and try.

POST UPDATE. Unplayable now. Played over 1000 games with the original but now it just crashes every single time. What was a simple game has now become over the top with audio-vocals and other unnecessary gimmicks. Held off deleting as I want my score but will have to go if it's still the same after a couple more months.

ORIGINALS REVIEW: This game is such good fun. I've played a few other players now and it is exciting to win. If I could improve it in anyway I would have different map sizes and better chat options -including after game chat to see if they want a rematch. Download it. You know the game and you won't be disappointed.

On a side note: check the options. There you can disable voice overs, select low-graphics settings (in case you're on an older device) and generally configure the game.

EDIT: thanks for the updated review GOAQ! :-) Yes, some people think everyone is a cheater. I see this as part of one of the most pressing problems of our times, a deep mistrust of and misinterpretation of available data. And it's not only kids, I'm afraid.

This has become one of my favourite apps. The games are well rendered and fast. Good graphics and sound.

I’m an Englishman learning German. So I downloaded the German sound pack and found some Germans to play with. This is a great way to make foreign friends and improve foreign language skills.

However the friends function is too basic. I can message anyone unless we are already playing you need to fix that. There are no teams or clans to join there should be.

Lastly there should be a function to create a game for the future. Like ill create a game and set it for 48 hrs ahead then invite my friends and set a time we can meet for games.

Another idea is to have 2 v 2 team battles.

Please think about changing the game a little so it is catering for people who want to practice writing in German like me and others. I am sure I cant be the only one here, doing this under lockdown.

I have got Drops, Duo Lingo, and five other German language apps on my phone and tablet. This is the only app I ever downloaded that has enabled me to actually speak to real people in a foreign tongue. You have unwittingly created the most powerful language learning tool on the internet. Hello Robert - thanks for the review! Danke schön! :-) You will be happy to hear that we're working on a lobby system for "Play with friends". There will be language channels and a global channel for the rest of the world (you will also be able to enter a specific language channel by changing the language setting of your device) . This will make it easier for players to find each other and coordinate their games. Clans and the like will most likely not be added, at least not in the current version. Same goes for 2vs2, our player base just isn't big enough. About creating and playing games with a specifc time in mind: we hope to be able to soon start working on changing the whole online play network base. This would result in both real-time and turn-based games becoming possible (you could play one match over the course of a few days) and we could finally put the game logic on our server, also a big plus.
