Welcome to Flamenco Explained, the most comprehensive flamenco guitar resource available.
Flamenco has traditionally been taught by rote – you sit with a teacher who shows you what to play and tells you what to work on. Flamenco Explained is kind of like that, and a lot more.
We developed Flamenco Explained to be a resource for all flamenco guitarists, from budding aficionados to professional players. We aim to demystify this amazing art form by focusing on the form and the art rather than the culture and the mystery. We don’t believe in dumbing anything down – we just believe that many aspects of flamenco can be explained and understood by anyone who’s willing to put in the time and who has a good guide.
If you know a lot or a little about flamenco already and need more specific help, browse our massive library of tutorial videos, where you’ll find instruction on tons of techniques, Palos (flamenco forms), and material from full solo guitar pieces to individual falsetas. Flamenco Explained App
Although the navigation through the content is not the easiest, the app works well, I changed the rating to 5 stars after using it more. Forget the app the content, as with the website, is beyond belief and must be the best music tutorial site there is. At least for flamenco. John Fillmore on livefire is excellent. Adam Del Monte at new learning vision is sublime, Atrafana school is über thorough but Flamenco Explained has Kia, who having an apparent compulsion to explain everything he is doing while he does it, provides the best tuition possible. It beats everything else I have seen.
Add to this a very innovative and open approach to tuition that makes it great fun easy to assimilate and enjoyable to follow all at the same time. Having Rocket and Tara in the back office is a bonus, no doubt, but the simple philosophy of explaining a musical form through teaching and sharing with passion puts this app in the world class bracket. Oh yes even for non subscribers there is an amazing choice of free excellent material including great support for the (printed) book.
Finding material is so much easier now the site has been reordered. The tabs are now free.
The most important aspect of FE is that aside from the technical and music tuition that is presented in a standard format there is also Kai delivering knowledge of flamenco in the traditional way - that is orally. The best of all worlds really.

Kai’s teaching and the selection of material taught makes ‘Flamenco Explained’ an essential tool to interiorise, in a most enjoyable way, this beautiful art. There is stimulation from the word go and a didactic approach which has very few competitors in the world of online flamenco learning. This is, no doubt, thanks to Kai’s deep understanding of and passion for the art of Flamenco.

Amazing resource from Beginner to Advanced
Flamenco Explained is a great concept and brilliantly executed by Kai and Tara. The content is comprehensive and covers all bases. Kai’s plain English explanations and demonstrations really help in getting to grips with the practice and theory and there’s tons of links to related areas to build understanding and appreciation. I wouldn’t be without it.
