What is FLAC?
FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec, an audio format similar to MP3, but lossless, meaning that audio is compressed in FLAC without any loss in quality. This is similar to how Zip works, except with FLAC you will get much better compression because it is designed specifically for audio, and you can play back compressed FLAC files with FLAC Player+ app just like you would an MP3 file.

Good, but could be better
Good app, does what it sets out to do.
Syncing songs over WiFi is a little tedious if you have your folder structure as artist/album. You can only do one album at a time!
The only other issue I have found is it can’t handle albums by Various Artists very well. Most players use the album artist ID3 tag for the artist list, and then display the artist tag if it’s different when playing the song.
Clunky implementation and poor documentation let this down
Fed up of iTunes Match constantly losing artwork and individual tracks giving "cannot be downloaded" for downloaded MP3s I switched to this after an Apple Support engineer spent over 2 hours trying to sort out these issues and ultimately could only give me workarounds that meant constantly re-ripping and re-uploading tracks (until they "take"). Wanted to upgrade audio quality and reliability of being able to play transferred music and downloaded this as the leading app in most FLAC player reviews. Disappointed to find documentation is just a few sentences that only cover the obvious rather than detail needed.
In Albums view the software only shows generic music note icon instead of album artwork shown when playing individual track in locked view.
Too often the software plays first track of an album and then stops with no clear indication of how to play the whole album or what you need to do to play whole album.
For albums with more than one disc it can't cope at all and plays back interleaved tracks from each disc based on track number completely ignoring the disc number information.
Overall I'd expected a lot more given the rave reviews, suggesting this was the "flagship" FLAC player app for the iPhone.
Authors don't seem to care much about improving functionality which appears to have remained unchanged since the rave reviews published when it first appeared a few years ago.
Don’t upgrade to this new version
If you are tempted to upgrade to this new version, Don’t especially if you had paid for removal of ads on the previous version as the ads will return The new UI is not worth the upgrade especially with those annoying ads
Thanks Khoa the latest point release 2.9.1 has restored the remove ads option
