Fantastic app and instructors

What can I say, I’ve had my echelon bike for 2 years now and couldn’t be without it. I ride for at least an hour daily and could probably count the number of times I’ve had issues with the app on one hand. (I do occasionally have days off but I miss the endorphins when I do!) The classes are excellent, the instructors become more like friends than just faces on a screen. The choice of classes is huge, not just the spin bike, there is a rower, treadmill, and reflect mirror classes too. I only have the bike, but I also do some fitness classes from the app - they have a huge range from yoga to HIIT to strength to post class stretching. I’ve made lots of genuine friends through riding with them and it’s the first fitness activity I’ve ever stuck with (and I hated exercise bikes in the gym before I found echelon). The app is really easy to use, you can search for classes by instructor, type of class, length of class, music type or just type what you want into the search bar. I see quite a few negative reviews on here but believe me I know a lot of very satisfied customers that ride with echelon. I think people may be more likely to leave reviews if they have a gripe, but I thought after 2 years I really should leave a review as this app/community has made a huge impact on my life/fitness and I couldn’t be without it.

Great app and first class customer service

The app has worked perfectly for about a year. The only glitch was the big upgrade last year which clearly didn’t work so they removed it within hours. When ever you need help they are available of the phone or answer an email very quickly. Had an issue with my first bike and it was replaced in 48 hours, brilliant. Have used the peloton app too and they are basically the same and why wouldn’t they be, if it ain’t broke !!

Poor performance metrics

While the bike, the range of classes and the instructors are great, the Echelon brand is greatly let down by the app’s functionality and metrics. No ability to see how you are improving over time other than by the crudest means. The ‘Progress’ section simply catalogues the rides you have completed, and through simple bar charts compares output, distance and calories to the last time you completed that specific ride. You have to click into each ride individually to get this information and you cannot get data from or compare all rides of similar type and duration over time. In theory the app also enables you to compare heart rate in the same bar chart format, if you could actually manage to sync your device to it - which seems to be impossible for most.
Echelon, you have active and engaged followers on social media; how about doing some user testing via those platforms to learn what they expect from an app that that costs £40 per month.
