Easy Voice Recorder 4+

This is a brief review of the Easy Voice Recorder app by Digipom, version 1.1.5. After checking it out and comparing it to some other voice to text apps, I decided to make the in-app purchases. These cost £1.99 for Full transcriptions and £0.99 for the Theme Pack.
Obviously the transcripts were not 100% accurate but as accurate as another great app which costs just over £12 per month. I tested a number of similar apps on my iPhone with its own internal mic. I’m in the UK so my device’s language is English - United Kingdom. Easy Voice Recorder does not send the recording to some external servers like many other apps do, including the expensive one I mentioned above. It converts the voice to text using the device’s own resources. To me that’s an important factor. I found the speed of conversion to be faster than I had expected; it was as good as the other apps I tested. I recorded my voice on m4a (AAC MP4) format at 48kHz (high quality). I haven’t tried the better format available, wav (PCM) at 48kHz (high quality). It will probably be more efficient at converting the voice to text, but as everyone knows, wav utilises a lot of memory to record the same length of an audio file. I hope this brief review will prove useful to you.

As someone who uses an iPhone with text-to-speech, simple it’s always preferable. The interface is beautifully simple with three tabs at the bottom and a nice big recording button in the centre of the screen. Why make the process of recording a quick voice memo any more complicated than this...

I am a musician and I use this app to record my ideas as I develop them. It’s a great little app. I knocked off a star because of the editing limitations, for example you can’t go back into a recording and add more on at the end, which is something I find surprisingly frustrating! But on the whole it’s great, especially for free, so I do recommend it. I prefer it to the Apple voice recorder on my phone!
