Description
My Cumberland is a mobile app that enables you to report issues to Cumberland Council.
You can attach photos, video and other relevant information to your report and pinpoint the exact location with easy-to-use maps.
Your report will be received by the Customer Services team and then forwarded to the relevant department which will deal with it. You’ll be kept fully informed along the way.

What you can report
You can submit reports for things including:
• Dumped rubbish
• Abandoned vehicles
• Dog mess
• Litter
• Damaged litter bin
• Stray dog
• Discarded syringes.
You can also make a complaint, report a missed bin collection or request a new container if yours is lost or badly damaged.

Some nice features, but this is basically a collection of web links and an in-app browser which isn't as good as Chrome or Safari. I hope the council didn't get fleeced by the app developer for this. But, good start :-)
Bin collection
I do not know, but suspect, that one of the most common usages of the app is to check which bins are due for collection each week - for example, I am 72 and have never had occasion to ‘Report a dead animal’, as appears on the opening screen.
You have to go through four screens on an iPhone to get to bin collection!
Each week, I have to type in my own postcode. There is no default/favourite postcode. How often do I need to check on the bin collection elsewhere?
Having entered the postcode, it then asks for my address. I scroll down, find the correct address, release the scroll and the screen returns to the top of the screen, obscuring my address. To find the information, I have to check on a neighbours address with a lower street number.
Is complaints glitch deliberate?
Generally I really don’t find the app functionality very good, hard to navigate around. And shouldn’t the main telephone contact nos be prominently displayed?
Main issue is that the Compliments & Complaints tab just leads you onto a blank screen with no way of inputting data - just think of all the compliments you’re missing out on!
