Cannot see the point.
Marking favourites does not work and the only thing it seems to do is let you choose a different colour sidebar. Waste of money.

Thank you very much for your feedback! I understand it’s a bit confusing, but the Favourites in this app are not the same as the Favourites from the system Phone app. That’s actually a privacy protection, to make sure that your Phone Favourites remain private.
So to mark Favourites in this app, you need to tap the “Edit” button, select contacts, then tap on “Add to Favourites”. I hope it helps to clarify this issue. Please let me know if the problem persists.
