Ratings and Reviews
Brilliant for inspiration
I often search for recipes on an ingredients led basis - I used to google for my favourite chefs and their recipes around particular ingredients or turn to a printed version of something by say Marcella Hazan, Rose Grey or sometimes Jamie - being able to hit up ckbk is great because it is such a easy way to find a wide choice of reliable and inspiring recipes without having to search through multiple sources and formats + the app has introduced me to quite a few authors I didn’t previously know.
The choice of content is reallly well curated and the geeky bit of me likes how well the search works and that the app is regularly updated - I’ve had so many cooking apps where the recipes are initially quite buzzy, but over time the content becomes stale because the developer doesn’t update - from what I can see the team at ckbk work really hard to keep the app fresh and full of new ideas, which is great.
Brilliant idea, beautifully done
I own shelves of cookbooks and typically turn to them either for ideas or perhaps more often for the one recipe that really works for me in that genre. Of course these days there are lots of wonderful recipes you can find by simply Googling, but it’s hard to judge them and the majority are anonymous. The great strength of ckbk is that all the recipes come from authored cookbooks, so you can avoid pet hates and gravitate towards those you trust. It’s by no means complete yet, but gets better all the time. Not a substitute for all those books, but a great way to search quickly if you happen to have a peculiar set of ingredients and run out of ideas. Also to compare different approaches. And it’s extremely well done - elegant and intuitive. I find myself gravitating towards it more and more often. Highly recommended!
Utterly brilliant product!
I love cooking and love Middle Eastern but have got a bit stuck with my recipe portfolio. This app has helped me massively expand the types of cooking i do and the range of recipes. Just anything you want to cook you can find a recipe! It’s really helped with great Chinese recipes, and traditional British. Even if you are thinking of a simple dish, a quick search and you will find a recipe to make it a bit special! I don’t need a bookshelf of heavy books-and recipes I remember but can never find-I just need my iPad! Rock on! Great present for people too! Paul G, Liverpool
