Ratings and Reviews
Not too bad
This app has performed reasonably well, the top issued I’ve had are the time lag to the tv and not loading sites with a message of non compatibility. Over all its not the worst and I have had these same issues with most others……. In its defence, it could be my countries service providers throttling and black listing unrestricted sites and the countries that host them.
Free
I already had paid apps from other stores to cast to my chromecast, so when it came to being forced into using an unused iPad for a while I wasn’t gonna pay. I seem to have tried all the other apps before this one, so I’m pretty confident in saying that if you can’t/won’t pay, this player is the best. Other apps hid what are to me essential functions, such as subtitles, pop up blocks, and even fast forward / rewind, behind “premium” walls. Srsly? Well I can’t review this app without expressing how fundamentally ridiculous that kind of policy is. Soooo frustrating, and definitely won’t make me inclined to open my wallet. Thankfully this app is none of that. The only hardship us skinflints have to endure is a reasonably non intrusive banner that haunts our videos. It’s high enough to not interfere with subs, it’s transparent enough to see through if needed, and even though it’s orange it’s very easy to ignore. Now I’m tempted to give them money. The other app makers can jog on.
The app resets if you put it in the background
It works ok, but it’s annoying if a stream you find and play comes to an end and you return to the app after using other apps, to find it’s reset back to the home page and no longer on the site you left it. Likewise, you can setup a play queue (which is a great idea for a feature) but after a few minutes return to the app to find the queue has been emptied and the app has returned to the home page again. Why does it keep resetting? Other apps you can flick between and return to find them how you left them! The constant reset means you have to re-find the page you were on and start over, or keep the app in front and not use your iPad for anything else while webtv runs. Not good.
