Description
Buttercup is an open-source password manager, available on all major platforms. It helps you track and store your login information for any service you use - personal or for work - in a securely encrypted archive that you store where you want.
Buttercup archives contain groups and entries so that you can easily manage your login credentials. There’s also a desktop application and browser extension available, so you can access your archives and credentials on every platform you use.
All information stored within Buttercup archives is private and encrypted - available only to those with your master password. Keep this password secret and don’t use it for any other login! Once you have your login details stored within Buttercup, you can concentrate on remembering only the 1 password (for Buttercup) - all other passwords can be long, gibberish text to increase security, and you don’t have to remember them!

Buttercup is designed to be used with free-to-use cloud storage providers, such as Dropbox, Google Drive and WebDAV-enabled services.
No information regarding you or your archive is sent to us or any other service. No in-app analytics are used and we rely on the completely anonymous service analytics provided by Apple and Google. If you have any queries please consult our privacy policy.

OK but only has username and passwords
The app seems good but I need to store all kinds of information and notes so unfortunately it isn’t going to work for me
Normally great, but this version dropped the ball…
Buttercup is generally great and I love an open source password manager, but… we’re at my folks for Christmas, go to unlock my vault to log into my son’s Nintendo switch store… and…where’s my vault?! Argh… and I don’t have my Dropbox password with me… cue a ton of hassle resetting my Dropbox password to add the vault again while being hassled by an increasingly impatient 9yr old and now I’ve changed it I’ll probably forget it again and have to fix the connection to all my other buttercup installs on my laptop and PC!
Please persist the Dropbox auth in the future if you update! This was a real pain when a lot of people are likely to be travelling and their phone is their only way to get their passwords!
Functional but seems to be lacking some settings
WebDAV works by you have to remember to put https:// on the front of URL as it doesn’t add automatically.
App doesn’t have any settings for auto lock, so seems to stay unlocked indefinitely unless kill app completely or lock manually. It would be much more reassuring if app auto locked when you changed to a different app, possibly after 1 min but that could be a changeable setting.
It would be really Useful to be able to add multi line notes to entries as a custom field.
